This program is presented by Theresa Oellrich RN, CHN, Communicable Disease Investigator

  • This program is an interactive presentation that will teach the participants about Lyme disease, how to avoid exposure to ticks, how to recognize a tick and how to remove a tick. It’s a “must see” presentation!
  • Theresa is Otsego County’s Communicable Disease Investigator. Her expertise in this field is recognized across New York State.
  • This presentation is suitable for all age groups.

10:50 am until 11:20 am –“Rabies Prevention and pet safety – What to do when an exposure or animal bite occurs.”
This program is presented by Kim Schlossser RN, SPHN, Rabies Program Coordinator and Mathew Johnson RN, CHN, Rabies Prevention

  • This program is an interactive presentation that will teach the participants about rabies, how to avoid exposure to rabies  and what to do if exposed to a potentially rabid animal or if one is bitten by an animal. The Department of Health Investigates hundreds of exposures and animal bites every year. Come and learn what you can do to help protect yourself and family members in the event of a an animal bite or rabies exposure.

This program is presented by Julie Dostal, PHD, Executive Director of LEAF

  • Shawna is a high school student. By all appearances, she seems to be a regular teenager with a variety of interests and friends. However, something is not quite right. Things have been “off” with her for a couple of months and you’re beginning to be concerned. The decision is made to check her room for signs of trouble.That’s where this interactive program comes in.Shawna’s bedroom is set up and ready to go for all adults who care for a teen. Each person will have the opportunity to look through Shawna’s room for signs of trouble. Julie Dostal, the Director of LEAF, will then take you through the signs and talk with you about what to do.
